Wow, where do I begin? Iβm an experienced solo traveler who had been to Turkey twice before but I knew that it would be best to explore the Black Sea... read more region with a tour. So after a quick google search, I came across Hidden Wondersβand Iβm so happy I chose them!
After reading I few things on their website I decided to reach out for more information. And from the beginning, I was in communication with Gamze, who owns the company. From start to finish, she was always kind, patient, knowledgeable and very responsive to any question I had.
I just got back from my tour last week and I can truly say that it was the experience and adventure of a lifetime! I spent four days exploring the Black Sea region and everything was simply fantastic. The landscape is unbelievably gorgeous, all the food we ate was so delicious (youβll have your share of fresh food and unique regional specialties), and the tour guides were kind, knowledgeable, and passionate about the region.
As a solo female traveler on this tour, I also felt extremely safe the entire time I was on the tour. The tour guides always made sure I was comfortable and Gamze made the effort to check in with me throughout my stay.
Since I did a private tour, I was able to communicate directly with Gamze to have the itinerary I wanted. And even though I was only one person, I found that the price was extremely reasonable and definitely 100% worth it.
The landscape and culture of the Black Sea Region speaks for itself but if youβre looking for a tour company, look no further than Hidden Wonders. They will make sure that you have an unforgettable and effortless experience. You wonβt regret it!

We enjoyed the trip we did with Hidden Wonders. The vehicle we drove in was a very nice 4x4 and the driver was the friendliest man ever and took the... read more most beautiful photos. Our accommodation was also lovely and we got to visit places we would otherwise never have ended up seeing ourselves including having dinner at the top of a mountain with a local friend of the driver. Our highlight out of many beautiful places we saw was our drive to the top of a really high plateau where we watched the sun set and clouds roll in. Felt like we were on top of the world. I would highly recommend doing a trip with Hidden Wonders.

I've just got back from doing the Hidden Wonders Black Sea Uncut tour. It was 6 days and 5 nights. As someone who normally prefers to travel solo, this tour... read more has changed my life and perception of doing tours! The small group sizes (we had 4 in our group) meant there was flexibility and the location being uncut and off the beaten track means that you are traveling with like-minded people who are also looking for a unique experience and the chance to trailblaze and see unchartered treasures! Plus, the locations we went to were very exquisite and literally off the main roads so you do require a local to get you there!
The guide was warm, caring, thoughtful, and had a genuine passion for his country and the hidden gems. He was also able to tinker the schedule to suit the situation - whether it be to support our groups' individual interests or changes in weather. One of my highlights was that he also took us to non-touristic places to eat and each meal ensured we sampled something different and it was the best of the best. These were meals I'd return to the Black Sea for in a heartbeat.
The places we visited were incredible. Waterfalls, seas of clouds, mountain views at altitude higher than 2700m, Black Sea views, villages without tourists, colourful streets, the list goes on. But best of all, they were all definitely hidden wonders that will no doubt be on the tourist map before we know it. I'd highly recommend you visit before it is the next hot place to be swamped on by the masses!!
I'd also like to thank the owner of this boutique business, Gamze. Yes, you read right... you get to liaise with the owner! Not like other providers like Intrepid or Flight Centre where you just talk to an employee that has no vested interest and never been before! Gamze was easy to liaise with and very accommodating to personal needs and answered many of my questions. What she has designed is incredible and I thank her for changing my perception on tours and introducing me to one of my favourite places in the world and her home region!
I will be sure to revisit the Black Sea regional areas. Likely next year on a Hidden Wonders private tour with girlfriends for our 40th birthdays! Can't wait π

Living in the U.S. and having our wedding in Istanbul, my then-to-be husband and I knew we wanted to explore the Black Sea in the Aydir/Rize region for our honeymoon.... read more I NEVER use tour guide companies when I travel as I've always had horrible experiences with them, but I had a gut feeling that Hidden Wonders would be different, and boy, was I right!!!! After many hours of research into the region, we stumbled upon Hidden Wonders and we immediately sent them an email. Our primary point of contact, Gamze McGrath, was quick to respond to emails and accommodated our unique circumstances in the COVID-19 world. Gamze was extremely patient and helped us shift around our dates (due to reasons beyond our control) with minimal financial loss. Gamze even tossed in a few freebies as a wedding present, which was unexpected but thoughtful, considerate and exactly the type of hospitality I'd expect for this once in a lifetime occasion. When we arrived at the airport, Volkan greeted us at the arrivals door with a bouquet of flowers and a warm welcome. We walked a short distance to our vehicle, which was cleaned and restocked with water and goodies every day (it was covered in snow and mud by the end of every day given the places we visited!) and our luggage was placed in the back. Both Volkan and the driver were extremely professional, polite, and had extensive knowledge of the area both historically and topographically. The entire trip was very relaxing and Volkan moved at our pace during the entire stay. We communicated every day via WhatsApp to decide what time we would meet in the morning (usually around 9:00 a.m. since that is when breakfast would start at the hotel we were staying at). Volkan also helped us locate restaurants in the area for dinner and would order, pick up and drop off the food to our hotel room given the few restaurants open during the pandemic. Volkan also personally knew almost everyone we went to visit, which was an amazing advantage since he would often call up the owners of places and they would open up just for us. For instance, we saw some signs for zip-lining that my husband and I were eager to try out, especially with the gorgeous mountain and river views, so Volkan called up one of his friends and they opened their zip-line business for us. Volkan also took us around to all the authentic family-owned restaurants in the area and we were able to try different foods every day - he explained the foods that were region-specific so that we could order it. It was SO delicious and very affordable compared to other parts of Turkey! The restaurants would serve us platters upon platters of different foods and it would only cost us about 130 Turkish Lira TOTAL for us both. We were so fortunate to have experienced the region during the pandemic as there were not many other tourists around, which made our honeymoon feel even more special. If the Black Sea is on your list of places to visit, I HIGHLY recommend Hidden Wonders - I am extremely happy with their services and will not only be recommending them to family and friends, but will be using them again when I am next in the region! Thank you so much, Hidden Wonders!!!

I recently went on the Black Sea Uncut tour with Hidden Wonders Private Tours and it was a once in a lifetime experience. The 5-night 6-day tour took us off... read more the beaten track as we discovered sights that are not yet on the tourist map, from waterfalls, to historic towns and buildings to untouched nature. The accommodation was sensational, and our tour guide was full of knowledge and went out of his way to ensure everyone on the tour was safe and maximising their experience during the trip. His local knowledge of all the best places to eat was also amazing as I ate some of the most delicious food I have ever tasted. If you are looking to travel to this region or are looking to do a tour with a difference than I highly recommend giving Hidden Wonders Private tours.

who is hidden wonders
Hidden Wonders is a private tour company that is designed with a particular traveller in mind: a traveller who is seeking destinations and experiences that are unique, meaningful and only accessible to people with local knowledge of the region.
where did it all start
Hidden Wonders started after a trip to my parentsβ hometown, Rize, a city on the Northeast of Turkey, in 2016.
I had been to Rize several times before that trip but sometimes things donβt click until someone else points it out to you. There were four of us: me and my husband, my brother and his wife. We went to one of the villages located on an untouched plateau amongst the Kackar mountains with only a few houses that villagers use in summer time. There was no one else there but us. It felt like we opened a door and stumbled upon this hidden wonder on this little corner of the world.
What got Hidden Wonders really started though were the words from my not-spiritual-at-all husband. On the way back from the mountains he said, βThis is the only place Iβve ever felt a spiritual connection to the land. It gives me insight into how Aboriginal people of Australia feel about their land,β and not long after that trip Hidden Wonders was born and has been dedicated to deliver magical experiences to travellers from all corners of the world.
